Terms of service

Last updated 22 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and ClosetSwipe Ltd when you use the ClosetSwipe app or website. By creating an account you accept them, so please read them.

1. Who we are

ClosetSwipe Ltd, company number 16765714, registered in England and Wales. Contact us at support@closetswipe.co.uk.

2. What ClosetSwipe is, and what it is not

ClosetSwipe is a marketplace. We give buyers and sellers a place to find each other, we handle the payment, and we provide buyer protection. We are not the seller. When you buy an item, the sales contract is between you and the individual selling it, not between you and ClosetSwipe.

We do not own, inspect, store or handle the items listed. Sellers are responsible for what they list and for sending it.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to hold an account. You must give accurate details, keep your login secure, and not let anyone else use your account. One person, one account.

If you are a parent or guardian of someone under 18, you may open an account and let them use it. If you do, the account is yours: you accept these terms on their behalf, you are responsible for everything done on it, including what is listed, bought, sold and written in messages, and you are the person we deal with about any order or dispute. Payouts are made to you, not to them. We ask that you supervise their use of the app, and we would much rather you did that than have them open an account of their own.

We do not allow anyone under 18 to open an account in their own name. If we find one, we will close it.

4. Listing an item

When you list something you confirm that you own it, that you are entitled to sell it, and that your photos and description are honest and your own. You are responsible for describing condition accurately, including flaws.

What you can sell

ClosetSwipe is for fashion: clothing, footwear, bags and accessories. Anything outside that does not belong on the platform.

What you may not sell

Ownership and authenticity

Hygiene

Illegal, unsafe or restricted

Documents, media and money

Conduct

We may remove any listing that breaks these rules, and we may suspend accounts that repeatedly do. If you are not sure whether something is allowed, ask us at support@closetswipe.co.uk before listing it.

5. Buying

Prices are set by sellers. At checkout you pay:

The buyer protection fee is what pays for the protection described in section 8. It is shown to you before you pay, never added afterwards.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details.

6. Selling

Selling is free. We take no commission and charge no listing fee. The item price you set is the amount that reaches your ClosetSwipe wallet. The buyer protection fee is paid by the buyer and is separate from your sale price.

To receive money you need to complete Stripe onboarding, because payment regulation requires the identity checks Stripe carries out. Payouts go to the bank account you connect through Stripe.

If you sell in the course of a business rather than clearing your own wardrobe, you are a trader, and consumer law places additional obligations on you, including a buyer's right to cancel. Meeting those obligations is your responsibility.

7. Delivery

Posted items are sent using a prepaid label bought through our shipping partner. Sellers must post within a reasonable time of the sale and use the label provided, because the tracking on that label is what evidences delivery.

ClosetSwipe is delivery only. Items are posted, not collected in person. Arranging to meet a buyer or seller to hand an item over is against these terms, and anything agreed that way happens outside the app, without buyer protection and without any record we can act on.

8. Buyer protection and when sellers get paid

Money reaches a seller on evidence of delivery, never on a timer alone. Exactly two things count as evidence: a carrier delivery scan, or the buyer confirming receipt in the app.

Once one of those has happened, the payment is held for a further 48 hours so the buyer has time to check the item and raise a problem. If nothing is raised, the money becomes available in the seller's wallet at the end of that period.

If the buyer raises a problem within that window, the payment stays held while we look into it, and it is not released until the issue is resolved.

If an item never arrives, the money is not released to the seller. It goes back to the buyer.

9. Problems, refunds and disputes

If an item does not arrive, or arrives significantly different from its description, report it in the app. When you report it makes a real difference to what we can do.

Within 48 hours of delivery

This is the window that matters. The payment is still held by us at this point, so nothing has reached the seller. We will look at the evidence from both sides, including tracking, photos and messages, and decide the outcome. We may refund you in full or in part, or release the payment to the seller.

Between 48 hours and 14 days after delivery

You can still report a problem, and we will still look at it properly. You should know what changes, though: by this point the seller has usually been paid, so a refund comes out of ClosetSwipe rather than out of money we are holding. That means we will ask for clearer evidence, and a refund is significantly less likely than it would have been inside the first 48 hours.

It is not a closed door. Where it is clear that something has genuinely gone wrong, we would rather put it right than hide behind a deadline.

After 14 days

We are generally not able to intervene, because the transaction is long settled and the evidence has usually gone. Report it anyway if something serious has happened, particularly anything suggesting fraud, because we still act on that against the account involved even when we cannot refund you.

Our decision in any dispute is made in good faith on the evidence available. None of this affects your statutory rights, or any legal rights you have against the other party directly.

10. Behaviour

Do not harass other users, send abusive messages, attempt to complete a sale outside the app to avoid buyer protection, manipulate ratings, create fake accounts, scrape the service, or interfere with how it works. Attempting to take a transaction off platform removes the protection for both sides and may result in a permanent ban.

11. How we moderate, and how to report something

We check content in two ways. Some checks are automatic: every photo uploaded to a listing, a profile or a message is scanned before it is published or sent, and text you write is checked against a list of terms we do not allow. The rest is people. We are a small team and we review what is reported to us by hand.

To report a listing, a user or an order, use the report option in the app. It is on the item, on a person's profile, in a conversation and on an order. Tell us what is wrong in your own words; you do not need to know which rule it breaks.

If you cannot use the app, or you are not a ClosetSwipe user and want to report something, email support@closetswipe.co.uk. We treat those the same way.

What happens next. We look at every report. We aim to respond within 5 working days, and faster where someone may be at risk. Depending on what we find we may do nothing, remove a listing, restrict or suspend an account, or refer it to the police or another authority. We will not always be able to tell you the outcome, because what we do about another person's account is usually their business rather than yours.

If a child is at risk, or you believe you have seen child sexual abuse material, do not message the seller and do not investigate it yourself. Report it in the app or email us, and if a child is in immediate danger call 999. You can also report directly to the Internet Watch Foundation at iwf.org.uk.

12. Suspension, appeals and complaints

You can close your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, or where we are required to by law. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Closing an account does not cancel obligations already in progress, such as posting an item that has been paid for.

If we remove something of yours or suspend your account and you think we have it wrong, tell us. Email support@closetswipe.co.uk from the address on the account, say what was removed or when you were suspended, and tell us why you disagree. A person will look at it again, not the automated check that made the original decision. We aim to reply within 5 working days.

If we got it wrong we will put it back and say so. If we did not, we will explain why, once. We do not remove that right for anyone: a suspended account can still sign in to read this and to contact us.

Any other complaint about the service, including about how we have handled a report or a dispute, goes to the same address and is dealt with the same way.

13. Our responsibility to you

We provide the marketplace with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults.

Because we are not the seller, we are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality or accuracy of items listed by users. We are responsible for losses we cause where the law says we are, and nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

14. Intellectual property

The ClosetSwipe name, logo, app and website are ours. When you upload photos and descriptions you keep ownership of them, and you give us permission to display and promote them in connection with running the marketplace.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use ClosetSwipe after that means you accept the updated terms.

16. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
